Getting away to Truckee is often the base for a celebration weekend, like an anniversary, graduation or birthday. So what local restaurants can deliver on a special meal that you'll remember for a lifetime and are fully Instagramable?
Stella
Not your average walk-in and order-off-a-menu restaurant, Stella books by reservation only for a prix fixe menu on weekends and special occasions.
You're greeted with champagne and can pick out your name card at one of two communal dining tables. The menu changes daily, and I highly recommend the wine pairings, which were quite reasonable. The chef gives you a little intro to every course, and you'll be surrounded by couples celebrating sometime special or out for an evening on the town.

Trokay
The name is said to be an early spelling of the great Paiute Indian Chief who guided who guided migrants through the Sierras. It's an homage from a #totesadorbs husband and wife team. The menu is hyper-local – locally source and foraged!
Whenever we've dined there (usually a special occasion), we've always been delighted with surprise amuse bouches between courses. Definitely make a reservation if you want the weekend night and time of your choice.
